My Cat Thistle

Thistle came into our lives in a rather interesting manner. We looked out the back window and there he was lying under the patio on a chair cushion all rolled up in a little ball. It was the end of March and frankly the weather was still a little chilly, but clearly the little guy must belong to someone.  We wanted to make sure he was warm and fed so he ended up with a pillow and some food . Sometimes he would leave and we would worry about him until he returned, which he did several times. Then the day came when he left for a few consecutive days and we felt panicked that something had happened to him.

Day after day we looked out hoping to see his cute pointy nose and felt sad when the pillow was empty. Then one day there he was again. That was it, we picked him up and took him to the animal shelter to make sure that no one had lost him.  We explained the situation and told the worker very firmly that we wanted him if no one claimed him. He had to stay in that place four days but we went to visit him so he would know that he was loved. When we stopped in we knew which one he was because he was chewing up his paperwork that was hung on the outside of the cage. No one claimed him and he was ours after a quick neutering. Then he was home where he belonged but he was told not to sit in the window because we did not want anyone to see him and claim him. They had their chance and he was now officially ours. There was no going back.

He was meant to live with us because God kept picking him up and putting him on our patio until we finally gave in. Thistle had to have a plant name just like our other pets Daisie and Iris. He was like a noxious weed that kept coming back and the name Thistle seemed to be a perfect fit.
